High Raw Food Intake - Pregnancy Food Journal - Monday

I went grocery shopping today because I'm now really staying consistently stocked up with tons of fresh organic produce since I can go into labor any day. I've also been stocking my freezer slowly with some organic cooked vegan foods as well as frozen fruit, prepped raw foods, and a BUNCH of raw, organic, unpasteurized coconut water. (I picked up a case of it today while I was at Whole Foods, so I can get 10% off... it's not super cheap. Then again, if you think about it... the amount of coconut water in a large bottle would probably take 2-3 coconuts to get, maybe 4(?), AND this is organic with no additives, AND I didn't have to crack it open - am I rationalizing - lol. That being said, I do find the meat that they sell separately on the expensive side. $11 for one coconut's worth. Still... I picked one up today so I can make raw organic coconut yogurt!!!)

Anywhoo! Back to what I'm consuming today :)

Body Ecology Raw-Organic Coconut Water
Organic Raspberry Leaf Tea (iced)

12 oz organic blueberries - I LOVE blueberries

Vanilla Banana Protein Shake (water, ice, bananas, flax meal, Manitoba hemp protein powder & hemp seeds, Sun Warrior Natural Sprouted Brown Rice Protein Powder, vanilla bean)

Sprouted english muffin (toasted) with raw cashew butter - raw cashew butter is addictive!

Organic Green Juice (cucumber, celery, kale, kiwi, dulse flakes) - I think baby likes green juice

Giant Salad (spinach, tempeh, cucumber, carrot, raw dressing)
2 Chocolate Butter Truffles (pic on right)

Raw Kaia granola or another protein shake with frozen fruit (undecided yet)

  10. I second (fourth?!?) the yogurt - I've heard of coconut milk but not coconut water yogurt... so exciting!! I have three in my pantry waiting to be cracked, let us know how it goes!
Unrelated -- what are your thoughts on going more raw when preggo? I was about 50% raw a few months ago then went astray, am now planning on conceiving right away (and I don't want to wait)... do you think I'd be harming baby more if I jumped into high-raw?? I don't know how bad I'd be detoxing, but can it be worse than SAD (okay; SCD since I'm from Alberta, LOL)?

  11. Hi Mrsn_ba,
It's a good question. I'm not a fan of detoxing while preg but it's so hard to know how much someone will detox because everyone is different. I would gradually introduce raw, do more vegan if you're not already, and take it a few days at a time and monitor how you feel. Of course, I'm not a doc or midwife, so you might want to consult someone like that for more info. ;)

The yogurt is made from coconut meat and coconut water. :)

    Cheers,
    Kristen

  12. Watch out for that Kaia granola. I'm very afraid of granola that contains dates because there's always a chance for pits being in it and chomping down on them- I have been buying the cocoa bliss one because it doesn't contain dates, and this morning as I was eating it I chomped down really hard on a date piece, that shouldn't be in there- and I maybe have cracked a tooth..... great time for a juice fast!

Also- Is that a bio-pro or q-link necklace in that picture?

  19. Man o man, you can only get the water in CA. Called the company and they are testing to see how well it does. Hope they take it national soon. Cracking young coconut is not my forte. I don't care how many how-to videos I watch.
