That brings me to my 21st Awesome Giveaway! Sirova is offering one lucky winner one variety pack of protein grenades, which includes 8 protein grenades (4 chocolate and 4 vanilla). Yeah baby! Check out details for the protein grenades here.

ReplyDeleteQUESTION: What are your favorite sources for vegan (i.e., plant-based) protein (raw or not)?

ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite protein sources are: Sunwarrior (chocolate and vanilla), Garden of Life Raw Protein, Ruth's Hemp Protein, and of course, kale and sprouts.
I have lots of favorite plant based protein sources --> Black Beans, Hemp Seeds & Hemp Protein Powders, whole grains (Brown Rice & Quinoa), and Tempeh.
ReplyDeleteWhen I want raw protein sources, I stick with hemp seeds/oil or almond/hemp butter. My favorite cooked sources are quinoa and black beans (especially black bean soup or chili).
ReplyDeleteNow that the weather is warming up, I'm really amping up my workouts and trying to build some lean muscle. Protein grenades sound perfect!
Raw almonds and other nuts (which include homemade nut butters), hemp protein, organic beans, seeds
ReplyDeleteGood old fashioned beans for me. They may not be super protein-packed, but the fact that they come with plenty of fiber to help keep me full makes just a half cup far more satisfying than a giant 32-ounce protein shake!

ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all your nutrition insights Kristen, seriously you make it sound so easy and it actually is!!
Such a tough question! I'm gonna have to go with tofu (with tempeh in a close second, and seitan right behind that). I know they're all cooked, so I'll pick a raw protein fave too — I love nuts!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, my husband would love these! He is currently in Iraq and the only protein supplement available to him is *shudders* whey with a bunch of chemicals. Anyway...
ReplyDeleteAt the moment, I haven't really explored many vegan protein supplements, so I've just been eating as many natural sources as I can. I would like to find a good one though, because I like to have a protein shake after my weight lifting sessions. The only one I've tried so far is from Vega, and that's not so tasty.
Mine are greens and nuts/seeds.
ReplyDeleteMy typical sources of protein would have to be raw seeds/nuts and brown rice/hemp protein powders. For non-raw, it'd be tempeh, tofu and garbanzo beans. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI love kale, black beans, and hemp seed milk!
ReplyDeleteHemp- consistent and classic :)
ReplyDeleteI love pretty much all vegan protein sources, but I would say my current favorite is almond butter!

Cashews in any form. I love Cashews.
ReplyDeleteI love beans, especially adzuki beans, and quinoa. I also find that teff and amaranth have a surprising amount of protein as well. With regard to protein powder, I recently came across Nitrofusion and PlantFusion. Both taste great and are allergy-free!

ReplyDeleteblack beans black beans black beans. I love putting them in quesadillas!! or anything for that matter:)
ReplyDeleteHempseed for sure! I put it in green (and other) smoothies for my family, sprinkle in it salads, use in it raw granola, etc!!! The fact that it contains copious amounts of omega 3s (and 6s) can't be beat! I just want to add that my husband and I went practically vegan about 3.5 years ago. He often reminisces about when he used to be buff (and now he's just skinny!). When I saw your post on the protein grenades, I showed it to him and told him if he would be diligent about working out, I now could help him with getting enough protein to build muscle. So, if I win the protein grenades, you might just give me my once-really-buff husband back!!! Thanks!! You're awesome!
