Kristen's Raw 21st Awesome Giveaway - FREE VEGAN PROTEIN GRENADES!

Wowee! I'm extra excited about this giveaway. After the popularity of my husband's protein grenade blog post, Sirova contacted me to team up with them in sharing some recipes so they could make Protein Grenades available for sale.   4. I have lots of favorite plant based protein sources --> Black Beans, Hemp Seeds & Hemp Protein Powders, whole grains (Brown Rice & Quinoa), and Tempeh.

  5. When I want raw protein sources, I stick with hemp seeds/oil or almond/hemp butter. My favorite cooked sources are quinoa and black beans (especially black bean soup or chili).

    Now that the weather is warming up, I'm really amping up my workouts and trying to build some lean muscle. Protein grenades sound perfect!

  7. Good old fashioned beans for me. They may not be super protein-packed, but the fact that they come with plenty of fiber to help keep me full makes just a half cup far more satisfying than a giant 32-ounce protein shake!

  24. Awesome giveaway! I've actually been trying to consciously include more protein in my diet lately. I love to make a smoothie with unsweetened soy milk, brown rice protein powder, baby spinach, cinnamon, and stevia. It's delicious, and both the soy milk and protein powder make it protein-packed.

  41. Honestly, my favorite source is this blog and all the comments. I have learned so much here about how to get protein from sources I would have never known about. My husband & I just took the plunge and went vegan/raw about a month ago and the knowledge here is endless.

  42. Such a tough question! I'm gonna have to go with tofu (with tempeh in a close second, and seitan right behind that). I know they're all cooked, so I'll pick a raw protein fave too — I love nuts!

  43. Oh wow, my husband would love these! He is currently in Iraq and the only protein supplement available to him is *shudders* whey with a bunch of chemicals. Anyway...

    At the moment, I haven't really explored many vegan protein supplements, so I've just been eating as many natural sources as I can. I would like to find a good one though, because I like to have a protein shake after my weight lifting sessions. The only one I've tried so far is from Vega, and that's not so tasty.

  78. I love beans, especially adzuki beans, and quinoa. I also find that teff and amaranth have a surprising amount of protein as well. With regard to protein powder, I recently came across Nitrofusion and PlantFusion. Both taste great and are allergy-free!

    I'd have to say my favorite is Manitoba Harvest's hemp protein. The higher protein one. It smells gross, but it blends into things very well and the taste isn't noticeable. I make salad dressings with it!

    Oh! I meant to tell you. I always felt awful that your awesome comments got cut from my raw article. Well, this summer, I'm interning for the Houston Chronicle, features section. We need to have a list of story ideas. Well, I think you can guess what's at the top of my list!

  94. Like many others, my favorite protein source would be hemp (I like it best in seed or butter form, but I'm getting used to the powder form).

    I also recently tried out brazil nut protein powder, and have so far been pleasantly surprised.

  102. Hempseed for sure! I put it in green (and other) smoothies for my family, sprinkle in it salads, use in it raw granola, etc!!! The fact that it contains copious amounts of omega 3s (and 6s) can't be beat! I just want to add that my husband and I went practically vegan about 3.5 years ago. He often reminisces about when he used to be buff (and now he's just skinny!). When I saw your post on the protein grenades, I showed it to him and told him if he would be diligent about working out, I now could help him with getting enough protein to build muscle. So, if I win the protein grenades, you might just give me my once-really-buff husband back!!! Thanks!! You're awesome!

    We eat a LOT of sprouts, kale and raw nuts. For an extra protein boost I love sunwarrior chocolate. yum. We sometimes use Naturade Soy-Free Fitness & Energy Vegetable Protein Powder as well.
