I'm hot today. I wouldn't usually feel this way yet, but my pregnant body is extra warm. So, what do I do? I'm turning to some refreshing and nutritious raw beverages to keep my body cool and my cells (and baby) nourished. Here are two awesome ones I'm enjoying today!
Cukes On Ice
I've been drinking green juice (including plain cucumber juice) for years since going Raw, but I had no idea how fun and refreshing this simple hydrating beverage would be... on ice! Who KNEW!? Simply juice 2-3 cucumbers and pour over ice. (To make this juice extra fast, I used my Breville.) Enjoy and feel the cool!
Sweet Chilly Shake
I whipped this up in my blender because I was hungry, hot, and wanting something super yummy. It had 1.5 cups nut milk (or any plant based milk), couple handfuls of ice, 2.5 bananas, 2 tablespoons flax meal, 2 tablespoons hemp protein powder. This was AWESOME! I'm going to have another one later today.

Those sound delicious and very healthy Kristen. Plus easy. I need to replace my juicer. I have a Vitamix tho but somehow the thought of juicing with it stops me short--don't want to aerate the juice I guess. I make green smoothies and drinks.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for stopping by my blog too. It does support me in my raw foods goals. So thanks! ;)
Right now I'm so busy doing holistic bodywork as you know, I'm not doing indepth blogging but hope that will all change over the next year or so. You're an inspiration!

mmmm cukes on ice! I've been doing something similar but adding a little fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lemon - I think it's my new summer drink!
ReplyDeleteI SO need to get a juicer soon! Sure blending and straining is ok, but no way near what you're whipping up. I can imagine the cucumber being so delicious - and maybe with a little mint in it I think. Yum...
ReplyDeleteThank you for an amazing blog!
Julie :-)
It makes sense that cucumbers on ice would be refreshing when adding cucumber slices to water is so delicious. I've recently been making lemonade with freshly squozen lemons, mint leaves (and sometimes lavender or rose petals ice cubes) with just a touch of powdered stevia. I love the tanginess of the lemons, but my husband has a bit of a sweet tooth and prefers the 1/4 tsp of stevia per quart.
ReplyDeleteYum! These all sound unbelievably refreshing. I want NYC to warm up!
ReplyDeleteI wish it were hot enough here to enjoy a refreshing cool drink. As soon as the mercury rises, I'll be trying these out : ) I remember being a little oven with all of my pregnancies. Aren't you glad the little monkey is almost here? : )
ReplyDeleteI LOVE juiced cucumbers on ice! So refreshing & delicious. Your shake sounds great, too!
