100% Raw Ingredients: Organic Cacao Butter, Organic Cacao Powder, Organic Bahri Dates, Organic Lucuma Fruit, Organic Agave Nectar, Organic Vanilla Bean, Himalayan Pink Salt
Loooove those ingredients. I adore the fact that there are dates in it and that the agave nectar ingredient isn't featured as one of the first few ingredients. By that time, I was almost tap dancing in the aisle. I tore into it. I tried a bite. I was impressed at its richness and the fact that it's truffle like. But it was about 10 seconds when it really hit me. I had to have more. I ate the whole bar. I decided to buy the Goji Cacao Bar as well. They have a Maca flavor, and I admit I'm intrigued because I'm so impressed with the Caramel, but y'all know I am not a fan of the maca flavor in general (plus I'm choosing to stay away from maca while I'm pregnant). Later though, I plan on trying it.
Only now as I write this review do I see that there are 3 servings per bar (oops! lol). I am a tad regretful at having eaten the whole thing. But, it was so damn good! Oh! Wait! That means I also had 3 grams of protein. See how I rationalize? Now, I'm actually sitting here contemplating opening another one. No! Kristen! One is enough. Monkey will be doing backflips all day if I do. OK! I've gotten past the urge to have another. After all, they are 6 bucks a piece. BUT! When it comes to quality organic raw ingredients... sticker shock never lasts for long because it's worth it. I'M WORTH IT! My health is worth it. The Caramel Cacao Bar is probably my favorite chocolate bar on the market. I love the texture of the slight crunch as it breaks open to reveal a rich softness inside. I love the flavor. I love how I felt my inner child smile when I ate each bite.
When I arrived home, I checked out their website and saw this on the page about the Caramel Cacao Bar:
All our chocolate bars are certified to be Organic, Kosher, Vegan, and Gluten Free. They are made entirely from raw, high frequency foods and retain their raw state throughout the entire process from raw ingredients to finished product. No refined sugars are used and everything is processed in a nut free facility.OK OK - I had to try the Goji bar so I could review it right now, which meant tasting it, in spite of my having eaten the whole Caramel Cacao Bar earlier. I twisted my own arm! The Goji Cacao Bar is awesome, too. My kind of chocolate: rich, raw, awesomely-firm-and-love-how-it-breaks-upon-biting-it texture on the outside, and super fun chewy consistency on the inside. What a TREAT!!!!!
I'm a huge raving fan of these organic raw vegan chocolate bars. Score for Earth Source Organics. You officially have a loyal fan!
UPDATE: I realize that it can seem harsh to pay $6 a bar (especially when you want to have a few a week). BUT! Here's the thing. There are many people (myself included years ago) who don't bat an eye at spending $5 on a specialty coffee drink (daily! ehem... sometimes 2-3 times a day!). Spending a buck more and getting something MUCH more nutritious, all organic, all raw, and all made with love is fine by me.
Raw chocolate caramel bar? Oh my goodness!!
ReplyDeleteI love those bars!! My friend Maria sent me some for my birthday because she knew how obsessed I was! Especially the caramel! I can only find them near my parents though (where she lives) and another store like an hour away. But they are worth the wait! YUM! Enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Those sound incredible! I loved reading your review. Your excitement came through! Lol. It was so much more entertaining than just reading "I tried this today. It was very good." Now...I must get my hands on one of those bars.
ReplyDeleteYes, KombuchaCHIC, it rocked my house. :)
ReplyDeleteLauren, we're kindred spirits GIRL!!! XOXO
ReplyDeleteAudrey, thank you! I like to review products as I really experience them. ;) Glad you enjoyed it. :)
aww, I love how your excitement is literally jumping through my computer screen. I get like that too, two separate random people in the aisle at Whole Foods the other day actually bought a chocolate bar (non raw- also small and $4 each) because I started raving unasked like a lunatic about how good it was
ReplyDeleteWell, Kristen, I hope you didn't eat the entire Goji bar!!! Just kidding. I'm sure the little monkey will love them just as much as you do -- so, you better stock up!
ReplyDeletei have tried 2 other products by this company and not been happy. but not these two. so i will give them another try. thank you for the review.
ReplyDeleteHi Bitt! Interesting! What did you try that you didn't like? Inquiring minds want to know!!!
ReplyDeleteYou like bitter though, girl, so you might like these!!! :)
Hi Kelly Michelle,
ReplyDeleteThanks! Love spreading the praise like you did! :)
Oh! And when I was in the line to buy the bars, I mentioned to my mom that they were 6 bucks a piece. The store employee was like "WHAT?" Then, when he actually rang them up and noticed they were indeed 6 bucks he said, "Wow, I thought you were kidding."
ReplyDeleteI said, "No, they're so f-*king good, I had to buy more." Then, I blushed a bit because of my language.
He replied, "Awesome. No problem with your language here."
LOL!
You are so cute! ;-)
ReplyDeleteWe tried Righteously Raw bars for Valentines day and just loved 'em! They are fantastic.
I literally had that bar in my hand at the candy shop an hour ago. Now I am nearly regretting my decision to put it back. But, yeah $6 was the clincher for me. Ilike chocolate, but DAMN!

ReplyDeleteooh! These are on sale right now at my co-op...I guess I had better go check them out! like...right now!
ReplyDeleteFELICITY!!! YOU LUCKY DOG!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh My Gosh. I need to go check it out!!! I really want to try raw, but chocolate being raw? That's totally awesome!!!! And though it may be expensive, it's totally worth it!!! :D
ReplyDeleteI've seen these at the co-op and actually had them in my cart a few times. I have yet to purchase this but this will definitely change that : ) Thanks Kristen!
ReplyDeleteLet me know what you think! That Caramel Cacao Bar is screamin' my name from the cupboard right now.
ReplyDeleteMy husband read my post and said, "Do I get one?" lol! I was like, "um yeah we'll split it tomorrow." ;)
My two fave tastes in the world are dark choc and caramel. Usually caramel is totally bastardized and nasty and full of whey or HFCS or some god awful crap..and the dark choc is never dark enough. And it's rare for someone to actually do DARK choc with caramel, it's normally milk choc & caramel. So this, my dear friend, is like manna from heaven. I was at WF's for a meetup on Tues and will be meeting another new friend on Tues again at WFs and i am so getting this!
ReplyDeleteAlso I found a new score there called Jokerz. It's a vegan snickers. It's not an "elegant" dark choc truffle or anything crazy like that, it's a vegan snickers and it rocks. If you're in the mood, i recommend. NOT In the bar section, right by the cash registers, red wrapper: Jokerz.
Oh my god, those look so good! I'm definitely going to get some of those the next time I'm at whole foods! Thanks for the review! :) Yum!!
ReplyDeleteOk, Ok, you've convinced me!! If I ever see them, I will definitely try them, although I have yet to see them at my whole foods.
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't really relate to the post at all except that it occurred at whole foods, lol. I was looking at the cleaning products and wondering for the 100th time if I should get a fruit and veggie wash or if it is just a way to make money, cause more work for myself, add more crap I don't need. I know you buy all organic but I'm sure still wash your produce. Do you have any thoughts on these wash products? do you use one?
ReplyDeleteYes, I've had these before and LOVE the caramel one but I've tried their maca one, and not so much. How awesome you found it at your WF. I haven't seen it my WF but can pick it up my local raw vegan store. :)
ReplyDeleteHi HiHoRosie,
ReplyDeleteI suspect I won't like the maca cuz I don't like maca in general. I will try it after pregnancy though just to try. ;) thx for commenting your experience.
I love how I felt my inner child smile when I ate each bite.
ReplyDeleteQuite literally! LOL, I think it was Monkey who twisted your arm and convinced you try out the Goji bar too. ツ
"More, Mama, more."
Did you hear that?
Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing. After I read this I ran out and hunted them down. Definitely delish. Though the sticker shock was tough
ReplyDeleteHi Kristen! I just stumbled upon your great-looking blog.
ReplyDeleteI have one thing to say about this chocolate. It looks great, it's raw, organic, vegan, and all that, but is it fair trade-certified chocolate? I checked out the website and I couldn't find anything about the company's trade policies.
I've recently become more aware of the importance of supporting fair trade chocolate companies. I'm not passing judgment on you, of course. But it's something to think about when you're buying your chocolate bars.
