Took this picture for fun today to show one of the ways I use glass mason jars - for storage of the bulk items I buy (hemp foods, cacao foods, goji berries, nuts, seeds, dried fruits, sprouting seeds, etc).
Kristin, thank you very much for posting this. I'm going home this weekend and organizing my hemp seeds, nuts, etc. into jars and putting them in my freezer. Thanks again. Pam
WOW, that's perfect! My husband and I have been contemplating an additional freezer for our bulk purchases like this, awesome thanks for sharing =) I'm also enjoying following your pregnancy journey, we're hoping to be there soon...you're so inspiring.
oh my goodness, that's the most beautiful picture ever! i LOVE organized fridges and freezers! i'm trying to slowly build the ingredients that i keep in my freezer, and i would love to know where you purchase all of these foods. they're quite expensive, and if you know where to purchase them for the best deal in bulk, i'd love to know. thank you!
Hi Kristen! Sorry, this is kind of off topic, but, you should do a juicing recipe book. I am really doing a lot of juicing now. I've come up with some yummy ones on my own, but would love a go-to book for recipes. Just thought I would pass along the idea. Maybe it's something you are working on already?
Ok, now I'm just jealous of your freezer.....I have no space or a place to buy all that bulk stuff. I always wish for a HUGE pantry where I can set out glass jars full of all sorts of good stuff....maybe one day.
Thank you for posting this- I am still transitioning to a healthier lifestyle and I find myself struggling with how to store items etc. I am also curious if you have any suggestions for how to transport food for those of us who work outside the home? Anyhow, I just love your blog and your tips and tricks are priceless!
Hi Robby, usually from SunOrganic.com. They give discounts as you buy more pounds. I also het stuff like prunes there and dates. You can try amazon too though.
Amazing, I was just wishing I could peer into your cupboards and freezer! My boyfriend and I live with a room mate now, but we're moving soon and I plan on buying essential raw foods in bulk and taking full advantage of my freezer. I'm glad to know I can freeze mason jars, they're my favorite.
I've been meaning to ask you, what water do you drink? Do you have a filter, or do you buy it and if so how do you store it? I've been trying to drink more spring water than tap to cut down on chlorine but it always comes in plastic bottles :(

ReplyDeleteThis looks awesome, Kristen! We're on our way to getting our freezer to look like this, too.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, where do you buy your sprouting seeds?

ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a post about what you keep at room temp, what you refrigerate, what you freeze, and why :)
