My 1st Baby Bump Picture!

Drumroll please... ta dah! Here it is --> the long awaited for 1st baby bump picture. :) We took this a little over a week ago. And, all I can say is... I've grown (in many places) since! I think I'm a little bigger everywhere - LOL - face, butt, belly, legs, you name it... it's all good though because I've got my little monkey growing in me.

My weight gain is normal according to my midwife (I'll introduce her to all of you in a future post soon - she's wonderful). I haven't been doing much exercise during this pregnancy, but that is going to change now. I'm committing to a 1-2 mile walk 4-6 days a week.

As of this writing, I'm about 15 weeks, 6 days along. I'm past the all-day-nausea (whew!) but I have had some headaches (on and off) during the past 10-12 days. At first I thought they were from allergies because many others had them, but they just didn't feel like that. They feel hormonal, almost sick-like... hard to describe. My neck and upper back have been cracking a lot, too, so maybe my posture hasn't been very good. I've heard that many women (naturally) find themselves hunching over a bit when they're pregnant, in a protective way. I'll work on reminding myself to sit up / stand up straight.

  3. Hi Kristen,
Cute pic. Isn't fun to watch your body grow? absolutely amazing.

I saw a chiropractor during both of my pregnancies. Actually I see on regularly regardless, but it helped a lot with the changes my body was going through during the pregnancies.

    best wishes, Kristia

  4. You look so cute. Not bad for 15 weeks. That diet is really working.

It's funny; my posture improves while preggers. I end up leaning back more to help support the weight up front. It is the breastfeeding that pulls everything back down again. Yoga helps.

  5. Congrats to you, your bump, your hubby and you look wonderful!!!!!!!!!

Headaches and neck tension of sorts...I took magnesium supplements (Peter Gillham's powder fizzy stuff from WF or online) and that helped my muscles relax and helped the headaches. No doubt, you've tried everything and your diet is so well balanced and amazing but just in case, thought I'd mention it. My sister is 16 weeks preggo and it's been helping her, too!

    Again, you're glowing, congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. YEAH!!!! Baby Bump!! You look so great Kristen: )

My back always talked to me when I was pregnant and right after I had my babes. I actually went to the chiropractor a couple of times while I was pregnant because I got so out of whack. It's totally normal. I hope you get the kinks out. Walking will help for sure.

    Take care!

  12. Hurray for BabyBump! You look great, and happy Mama makes for happy baby!

Love the "monkey" fetal nickname. My daughter's fetal nick was "Thumper" from the very first time I heard her heartbeat.

Glad to hear your "all-day sickness" has eased off. Also, you look so much prettier with the au-natural dark hair, I hope you consider staying that way after you meet your little hitchhiker on the outside. Santa brought me a juicer - one more step closer to my goals! You're a great inspiration for me.

  13. Yay! We're so happy for you! :) Your baby is going to have such a head start in life. Eating a healthy diet early is a guarantee of enjoying a healthy diet later in life.

  14. Hi Everyone!
Thanks for your sweet comments - you're making me smile. :)

    Hi Averie,
That might be something to look into more. I have a balanced diet and I take a prenatal (has magnesium in it), but perhaps I need more. I had thought of that previously and decided to add a little raw cacao powder to my shakes since it's so high in magnesium, but I was away from it for a while... I'll add some again and see what happens. Thanks for the reminder! :)

  15. Hi Sewmouse,
That is so cute - Thumper! Love it. :)
    Yay for your new juicer!!!

Thanks for the brunette compliment. Yes, I am definitely keeping it. I'm doing it for my health and for the environment. :)

    Cheers XOXO,
    Kristen

  27. Oh, Kristen, I've been waiting to see that belly!! I too had lots of headaches during pregnancy. Are you planning a homebirth or going to a birthing center? I can't remember. We just had a successful homebirth in November, an HBAC! An awesome experience :)

    I'm just thrilled for you!

  33. You look BEAUTIFUL and radiant Kristen! Thanks for sharing your story along the way, so candidly.

I'd definitely check a Chiropractor if you're interested. Look at www.icpa4kids.org and find someone who is "Websters Certified" at the very least. They'll help out with all the biomechanical and musculoskeletal changes that are and will be happening. The bonus? Websters' technique actually helps your pelvis (and uterus) be in the best position possible, offering your monkey the most room and best positioning your body can possibly give - which obviously helps you as well as the little one. ICPA is a WEALTH of knowledge for you!

    Again - looking fabu! <3

OH! I tried your cheesy hemp nacho sauce recipe too! I'll need to cut back on the spice, and found it way better the next day. However the BF wasn't so much a fan. I'll have to figure out a way to sneak it into him! Thanks for sharing!

  38. Hi Amy,
Thanks for chiming in. I'm looking forward to reading your story. :)

For birthing classes, we're opting to go with Hypnobirthing instead of Bradley. Thanks for the recommendation though. :)

    Cheers,
    Kristen

Hope you had a great holiday and Happy New Year! PS. I am a hunchback these days, even my dad told me to throw my shoulders back, haha. Maybe it is a protection thing, honestly I think it is the extra core weight, it sure is weird putiing on weight this way :)
