Here is one of my latest and greatest concoctions! I love it so much that at night when I'm going to bed, I'm already looking forward to the next day when I get to make it. It's that good! I named it Cherry Chocolate Bomb Shake because it's the bomb! This fun shake is loaded with superior nutrition including superfood hemp seeds, raw chocolate powder, and hemp protein powder, along with organic fruit. It has about 35 grams of raw vegan protein, which is great for the little baby growing inside me. Oh, and I recently shared this recipe with another pregnant mama friend of mine and she went crazy for it. She loved it so much that she went to the store and stocked up on the ingredients so she could make it over and over.
YUM! I'm going to say it again.... YUM!!! OH! And this will make a perfect Valentine's Day shake.
Cherry Chocolate Bomb Shake
Recipe by Kristen Suzanne of KristensRaw.com
Yield 3 cups
1 cup filtered water
1 frozen banana, chopped
1 cup frozen cherries
1/4 cup hemp protein powder
2 tablespoons hemp seeds
2 tablespoons raw chocolate powder
splash vanilla extract
Blend this goodness up, and enjoy it as it helps make your day one of the best days ever!
Chocolate, cherries, and hemp... this has to be delicious.
ReplyDeleteIt is!!! :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so good! I will have to make this! I tried to watch the video, but it's saying that it's a private video and that I have to be sent a friend request. Am I doing something wrong?
ReplyDeleteKristen, I keep getting a message saying the video is set to private, so I can't view it :(
ReplyDeleteThis has to be great because I made a similar combination myself a while back and it was soooo delicious. But I still want to see your video and I can't because it's been marked as private. :-(
ReplyDeletePOOP! Okay, try watching it now. ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting me know!
Kristen
Haha - the blender dance! I do that too :) Especially when I know I'm about to eat something delicious.
ReplyDeleteKristen,

Oooh, looks amazing Kristen! Boo hoo i can't get any frozen cherries here, but I have dried ones I could soak and then just add ice... or sub blueberries...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Wow this looks amazing! YUM! I need to buy some frozen cherries!!! NOW! :)
ReplyDeleteYOU ARE SOOOO CUTE!! Seriously. I can't wait to try this! I've always loved fresh and dried cherries but was never big on the cherry "flavor." But you used whole cherries, so I will have to experiment ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting everyone! If you make this recipe, come on back and tell me what you think! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Kristen
I am putting on a cooking demo for about a dozen people next weekend and am looking for easy, fast, crowd pleasing recipes...this looks like a front runner! If you had to pick one of your other smoothie creations that would impress vegans and nonvegans alike, I'd love to hear what you'd pick!
ReplyDeleteThanks for fixing it Kristen! I'm able to view it now. This sounds absolutely delicious. Can't wait to try it. And you are too cute!
ReplyDeleteLove this video and you look so happy and your hair looks beauty-full!!
ReplyDeleteCacao-cherries-bananas is a staple for me. Awesome post-workout!
Ooh, I have all of the ingredients in my fridge/freezer right now!!! Breakfast tomorrow? yes, please!
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe how cute this video is. When you did your little dance while blending, I literally said out loud, "wow, she is so cute." Adorable, pregnant, vegan, loves hemp, chocolate and smoothies, etc...are you my soulmate?

ReplyDeleteYou all are so sweet! Thanks for the comments. I like dancing with my blender. :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE it!!!! Thank you for sharing Kristen!!! you are so damn ADORABLE!!!!!!! Love you!!!!! HUGS!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy son, Scott (11 years old), and I are loving the banana hemp version. He is slicing up three bananas on his own and freezing them to get them prepared for me to blend later. We split the three cups the recipe makes. I am not pregnant :) and probably don't need to gulp down the whole thing although I'd love to! I am amazed at how sweet it is with just bananas sweetening it. When we get cherries, we'll have to try this version out. Scott and I have been excercising like crazy and I think its this shake that really helps our oxygenation and endurance. Scott has notibly trimmed down. He thought he was going to always be big boned. His appetite is satisfied experimenting with raw food with me and now often refuses other food that his dad and friends bring home!
ReplyDeleteI also love that you grew your hair color out. I love the natural color. Mine is grown out now too.
i make something so similar! you're the only one i know who eats as much hemp as me. or maybe more. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh my! I am totally making this!! YUM!!
ReplyDeleteHey girl!
ReplyDeleteThat looks yummmmmmy!!!
I hadn't realized you were in Scottsdale! We're now staying with a friend in Anthem before continuing our tour on the west coast. ;-)
Linda says she's got all the ingredients for your shake so we'll be making this baby in the coming days. Can't wait!
Raw hugs,
Carmella
That's so funny. I've been drinking those for a while now; in fact, I'm having one as I'm reading this post.
ReplyDeleteI didn't research what I was eating while pregnant as much as you have. Therefore, I have been referencing your menus in the past few days to see if I'm getting all I need, as I am still breastfeeding. Thank goodness it seems like we are on the same wavelength. It makes me more confident in my eating decisions.
By the way, I'm so happy you stopped by my blog. I've missed you. Don't be a stranger :-)
Oh My!!! I cannot wait to make this it sounds sooo yummy! Almost sounds more like a dessert - which is why I LOVE raw food so much :)xoxo
ReplyDeletecool! am loving ur blog already. im now a follower.
ReplyDelete1 question: how do you make a healthy meal if you want to be on a diet?

Kristen, you have such a gift with making raw food not only sound appealing, but taste and look appealing. I will be making this shake this week. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brooke! :)
ReplyDeleteyou look fantastic = )
ReplyDeleteI am about to order some of the ingredients from Amazon. I've never tried hemp anything before but you make it sound wonderful! I was wondering for the chocolate bomb recipe...do you have the total calories calculated?
ReplyDeleteI don't usually count cals with this lifestyle, but my estimate is somewhere between 400-500. It's quite filling, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI had this for breakfast this morning... I forgot the vanilla, but it was still so delicious!!! I'll be sharing it with my whole family soon. Absolutely a YUMMY way to start the day! :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes me so happy, April! Yay!
ReplyDeleteTried this and LOVED IT!!!! And I miss you.
ReplyDeleteVeggieGirl! YAY!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you tried it and came back to tell me. :) I sure miss the hell-outta you, too!
I had to come back to this post and say how much I enjoyed this shake. I love cherries and chocolate so it was already a winner just by the name, but I made this last night and I LOVE it! Thanks again for sharing your recipe with us.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, Brooke! I'm waiting for my bananas to ripen so I can make myself another one! I think tomorrow is the day! :)
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Kristen :)
Gotta love Kristen :) She is too cooool......
ReplyDeleteI put mint from my garden into the basic banana hemp recipe for a nice variation.
ReplyDeleteOh, how I love mint!
ReplyDeleteYum! I made this tonight and my boyfriend and I both LOVED it! I'm wondering what would happen if I tossed some chia seeds in there as well and put it though the ice cream maker...could be yummy!
ReplyDeleteSS you are looking fabbo. Your hair is sooo thick and gorgeous, you are a pin up girl for RAW. Now I am off to make that right now! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the great smoothie recipe!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the great smoothie recipe!
ReplyDeleteI finally got around to making this this morning for breakfast. Oh my goodness, SO GOOD! It tastes like a chocolate milk shake! I will definitely make this again and can't wait to make it for my husband when he gets home. I think it will make a great Valentine's Day smoothie.
ReplyDeleteI LOVED THIS! It's so sinful tasting, but minus any sin at all. ;)
ReplyDeleteJust found your site. Love the videos. Keep them coming. I just started this vegan journey and feeling so much better. Lost 5 lbs. so far 25 more to go... question: do you still lift weights? What type of workouts do you do? (Pre Pregnancy)? Thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl,
ReplyDeletePre pregnancy I was a fan of lifting weights regularly and my cardio varied from hiking, walking, brief jogging, stair stepper (things like that).
In pregnancy, I'm walking about 2 miles 5-6 days a week. Some days I hike. :)
Hi,
ReplyDeleteCan you make this with cacao powder instead - like Green & Black organic cacao powder? I realize that would make it non-raw but it's what I have in my cupboard.
Thanks!
Yes you can :)
ReplyDeleteOh, my god. Why is this so good?!?!?! I feel like I've made a hundred smoothies *similar* to this, but none have been anywhere near this mind-blowingly good! The only thing I changed was to add a tiny splash of almond extract, since almond makes everything cherry even more intense. This is SO GOOD, Kristen! Ahhhh.
ReplyDeleteI am still drinking this as I type, and I'm already excited to make this tomorrow! :) I am splitting this one with my boyfriend, and I'm kinda mad that I have to share... Haha.
Thanks for this! Looks perfect!!! I will def. try this, as I'm always looking for new ways to use my hemp protein powder.
ReplyDeleteThanks again!
Wow! I just made this shake and it is "the bomb!" Thank you for such a great recipe!!
ReplyDeleteSo HAPPY everyone is loving this as much as I do!!!! I made two last night (one for me and one for husband) - YUM!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOkay, so I finally made this shake today (it took me forever to get to the store for cherries) and it is SO good. Now I'm obsessed and will need to find a way to support my new found frozen cherry habit. ;) I blogged about it today if you want to take a look. http://veganmindedblog.com/2010/03/03/a-few-good-products/ Thanks for the great recipe!
ReplyDeleteSa-WEET, Veganminded. Thanks for letting me know. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! How have I not commented on this post? Kristen, I've been making this shake almost daily since you posted this video, sometimes adding a good bit of spinach into it as well. My boyfriend and I absolutely in love with this shake and crave it all the time. I posted a video tour of my kitchen last night and talked about the huge stash of frozen cherries I have JUST for making Cherry Chocolate Bomb Shakes (which I have lovingly abbreviated to CCBS)! Haha. Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHi Ryan@GreenforGood,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for coming back to let me know. :) That's AWESOME!!!!!!! :)
Kristen, I LOVE the sound of this but have never found a source of frozen cherries. Might have to wait until summer when I can buy 'em fresh. :(
ReplyDeleteTried this today with hemp seeds, I didn't have any of the powder. WOW it is awesome! Love it. Very, very new to all of this, glad to have found your blog!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the feedback Vintage Indie!
ReplyDeleteI was inspired by you and made a variation of this. Amazing! It's like dessert.
ReplyDeleteI never really thought to buy cherries for smoothies until seeing this recipe. I must say that seriously is "da bomb"!! I love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristen!
I can't find raw chocolate powder anywhere!!! Where do you get it? I might just have to order it online if I can't find a store.
ReplyDeleteI usually buy online (Amazon), but many Whole Foods have it.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds delicious, but I don't own hemp protein powder. Is there anything I can substitute it for?
ReplyDeleteKristen, this may be a little late, but Manitoba Harvest now makes an Organic Hemp Protein Chocolate Powder.
ReplyDeleteIt's never too late to talk about chocolate. :) but, yes, I know that. I prefer to use my own raw choc powder. ;)
ReplyDeleteI made it without the protein powder or seeds, but it was still fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds absolutely scrumptious! Thanks for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the recipe..tried it today and turned out awesome! I used different kind of protein powder that was in my stash.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by to let me know. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks fabulous!! Kristin I have to say, you are so totally adorable!! My step daughter was walking in to the room while I was watching this video and she say "She's a cute girl...is she a cheerleader?" LOL!!! That's high praise let me tell you!! Thanks for the recipe!!! Congrats on your baby! I am very interested in a Raw Vegan pregnancy myself, so your blog was a major find! :)
