I used this food fermenting vessel. It's some of the best money I've ever spent. I've already paid for it more than once with the sauerkraut I've made, so this is a great way to save money. And, it should last my lifetime.
Here is a post about my first sauerkraut adventure with some written directions on how to make your very own precious sauerkraut. And, here is a post about my first adventure harvesting it. Enjoy! (*I don't know why these videos are getting cut off on the right side... must have been something I selected when uploading it.)

Love it! Now I wanna buy a one. I reckon it would be like Christmas opening it when it is done!
Yum, Yum, YUM!! Care to share with me? Hehe! :)
Great video! Thanks for sharing how easy it is to make Sauerkraut! :)
Hi Andrea!
Thanks for watching and commenting! :) I love making it AND EATING IT!!! :)
Cheers,

Hi Kristen!
I've never made "real" sauerkraut, so thanks for making this video. I've made Kimchi in the past, which is a little different I think, but also with cabbage and carrots (depending on the recipe).
I love your enthusiasm and you look great on camera!
Hi Nathalie,
Thanks!!!
Kim chi should be very similar, yet spicey. Basically fermented veg w/ spice. Yum!
I can't wait to harvest it!
Cheers,
Kristen
You have inspired me!!! I am on vacation now but when I get home I am ordering a kraut pot!
That's awesome, ChuckieFrog!!! Yay!
Hey, SS! Yes! It's just like xmas opening a present! hehe
Oh, and Lauren! I would SO share with you if I could. Wish we were neighbors!!!
Awesome video Kristen ! I want to make sauerkraut too :)
Look at you, all dolled up in your 'jewels' to make kraut! Hey, have you tried any with purple cabbage yet?
Re: your question on why video is cut off on right side...
Just as you can choose a border color for your videos, you can also choose its dimensions. Make sure the width of the video does not exceed the width of your post's column, and you'll be fine and dandy.
Dolled up for making kraut... hehe... indeed! Haven't tried the purple cabbage. My local organic farmer only grows the green and I love getting the stuff locally, so I've been sticking with that. However, I think his season just ended, leaving me to go to Whole Foods for the cabbage, where I'll choose purple next time.
Thanks for the answer regarding the video. Now, I have to figure out how wide my column is. The weird thing is that my other vids I posted from NY didn't have this problem and I don't think I did anything different.
What size crockpot did you use for the recipe? I am interested in purchasing either aa 7 or 10 liter. What are your thoughts?
I bought the smaller one. It's quite heavy, too, so the bigger one would be even heavier.
