I plan on being like one of those mama monkeys who carries her baby everywhere. Baby wearing HERE I COME!!!!!

Kristen's Raw said...

Hi Justine,
I will continue my same diet that I have now:

100% VEGAN

100% ORGANIC (unless I'm at a restaurant that they don't offer it)

70-100% RAW (so, basically, I'll continue my HRAV - High Raw All Vegan diet... some days 100% raw and some days medium to high raw)

Cheers,
One HAPPY Future Mama!

I'm thrilled and ecstatic beyond words.... we've been hoping for this for some months now. I feel in my heart I was destined to be a mommy and I'm stoked to be building my family now.

I'm dancing around (carefully, of course, haha), smiling from ear to ear, beaming brighter than the Arizona sun.

Congrats! Your "little monkey" is so lucky to have a mom like you. BTW that was my nickname when I was little too. ^_^

AmandaT said...

I knew it! I was reading your blog last week and was thinking, "I bet she's pregnant."
Congratulations, it is always so wonderful to hear about new babies - but I must admit, moreso when you know mom is committed to health and learning. I hope you find a fantastic midwife to help guide you through this journey, and that you have a transformative natural pregnancy and birth. My little guy is 2 already, and I can still remember that very first kick I felt. Such a thrill. You are in for an experience like no other on earth.

Yay! Congrats! March is a great time to have a baby! I was due St. Patty's Day 2008, but my little one held out until the 25th! I am so excited to read about how your pregnancy goes! I have been wondering when this would happen. New York must have been one heck of a trip!

Kristen congratulations!! I've been reading your blog and saw for the longest time you talking about your upcoming pregnancy and all this other stuff and wondering when it would finally happen!! This is great news, I am so excited for you.

I fully support your decision to stay vegan while pregnant, many people will start to eat "regularly" during pregnancy and I think it's completely unnecessary! Best of luck to you and your adoring husband! =)

Congratulations!!! This is so weird but I must share. Yesterday I was reading around your site a little bit, and I stumbled across a couple posts a ways back where you were expressing your desire to get pregnant soon. Today I was walking in the door and for some reason was thinking about you becoming pregnant/ finding out that you're pregnant soon. Imagine my surprise when I check my reader, see "Kristen's Raw --- I'M PREGNANT!" lol crazy!!! BEST WISHES MAMA!!!

Are you doing an all natural water birth to go along with your vegan lifestyle? If you haven't already -watch the business of being born and read ina may's guide to childbirth. I want to be a doula, midwife eventually and although I haven't had a child of my own yet, I am so passionate about natural childbirth- seems like something you would do! No drugs for your baby :)

Congratulations :) You should make a raw vegan pregnancy e-book with all the crazy concoctions you're going to be craving!

Kristen's Raw said...

Thank you again for all of your comments! It's been a real joy reading all of them.

I don't know if I'm doing a water birth, but it will be a home birth with a midwife and doula. I did see The Business of Being Born last year and I already read Ina May's book. I'm having both my mom and mom-in-law read it too before attending the birth so they can better understand why I chose it.

Wow. Congratulations. That's so exciting. It seems like it is contagious. I wonder who will be next.

Are you staying raw? I did okay for the first 6 or 7 weeks, but then my tastebuds couldn't handle it. I ate some cooked for a while, but now I'm happy to report that I'm eating a lot more raw again. Just 7 more weeks to go.

Good luck with your pregnancy. You'll be a wonderful mom :-)

I've been waiting for this announcement for months! Please keep us updated on how your raw food intake goes during your pregnancy. I could NOT drink green smoothies at all for like 16 weeks this pregnancy. They made me so sick, which is weird because besides that, I had no sickness! I'm just now getting back into the swing of things.

Congratulations on the magical news(Quite auspicious blessing if it's a St Paddy's day baby:)!

I've been broody for over 2.8 decades(I'm a typical maternal Cancerian who vowed to be a young mother) and my menses is unusually late(7 weeks now and I've never ever missed a cycle). I would love it to be the obvious, but I'm not sure as I'm in the 35+ age group. How do you know for sure?!

I forgot to say that my water birth was by FAR the easiest of my three (and she was my biggest baby; 9 lbs 6 oz as opposed to the bigger two who were both 8 lbs, 10 oz). It might be wise to prepare to have the tub just in case that feels good to you in labor!

Congrats! How lucky for the little newcomer! Mine is due around Thanksgiving so I say "I'm thankful" instead of I'm lucky. I guess if it was around Christmas then I'd say "what a gift!"
Oh, and I'm all about the baby wearing too. I already have 3 carriers- a ring sling that I made for less than $10, and two long stretches of fabric to do the wrap around one with. I'm glad I know another person who is excited to do it too!

Kristen's Raw said...

I could read all of these over and over and over again! I think I'll print them off for the journal I'm keeping. Thank you everyone! So Much!

Kristen, CONGRATULATIONS!! I love your blog and I was sooo happy when I read about your news, your baby will be healthy and beautiful like you:) As a matter of fact, I've been trying to get pregnant for a while and I found out last Thursday that I AM pregnant as well! I would like to ask if you will keep drinking green juices and if you will increase your protein intake. I'm vegan, not raw, but I love my daily green juice in the morning. Any advice would be appreciated, I'm kind of lost with the nutrition info...Thanks:)

Kristen's Raw said...

Yes, I'm continuing my green jce but using as much celery. And I'm increasing my protein. Congratulations!!!!!

Congrats Kristen and Husband!
I just had a baby 8 weeks ago and it is the most incredible experience. I will never forget the feeling of delivering my baby. We were just at a family reunion and my MIL was telling people that our baby is so strong and healthy and that it is because I eat weird things. super funny. I won't offer advice (even though I am tempted) because you are so obviously smart and won't let comments and the inevitable endless advice and judgements get to you. I couldn't stick to RAW or even the labour I planned but I did what I felt was right at each moment. I can't wait to hear all about your pregnancy!!

My favorite book as a child was titled "The Chosen Child" which was a story of the love for an adopted child. You see, I was adopted.

Congratulation, and all the best for you and your baby.
I read your blog from germany.
My best childhood story was Pippi Longstocking by Astrid Lindgren.
I liked her story because Pippy was a very funny and strong girl and Astrid Lindgren is a wunderful writer.
Now I have 3 grandchildren, the oldest is 5 years and we reads Pippy together. He likes the story tt very much.
Best wishes

Congrats!!! How very exciting!! Pregnancy is seriously the greatest thing ever!! You are going to love every minute of it! :) good luck!

Congratulations! You are in for the most amazing experience of your life! I still remember when my first child was born - she is now 40! I couldn't believe the awe I felt and just kept thanking the Lord for her.

OK! For my childhood story: I was 4 and my brother was 3 and we were mad at our mother. We decided to run away to live with our grandmother. We packed up and walked out the door. Mother just looked at us! We got to the corner and stopped. We weren't allowed to cross the street by ourselves! So back home we went.
