Spicy Sunrise Smoothie - Carrot Anyone?

I was making my smoothie today and saw carrots in my refrigerator. I thought, why not? It was a delicious and wonderful variation to my smoothie routine . I know...you're thinking, "Kristen Suzanne, your smoothie routine is anything but routine." I'm calling it Spicy Sunrise Smoothie (staying true to my spicy life, you can omit the heat if you can't handle it, but you're missing out on those lovely endorphins).

Spicy Sunrise Smoothie

Yield approximately 5 cups
1-2 cups water
3 bananas, peeled*
1 stalk celery
1 large carrot
1 red jalapeno pepper
3-5 mint leaves

Blend all of the ingredients until smooth. Enjoy!

*I love using frozen bananas with the spicy jalapeno peppers, because it's so fun to feel the different temperatures and experiences play in your mouth (cold bananas, spicy jalapeno pepper). Room temperature bananas are fine, but add ice to get the same effect.

Exercise - I'm going for a bike ride tonight under the stars. I love Arizona. Beautiful weather year round, unbelievable sunrises and sunsets, and terrific star gazing.

Hi Kristen,
I made your green smoothie the other day...UNF-BELIVABLE (with the pepper and cocoa. My new favorite. I too am in the fitness field (an instructor). I am about 50% raw now b/c I travel sooooooooo much (alot out of the country). Traveling with blender =heavy. Too many nuts and fruit= too many pounds. I need more control of calorie consumption and that can be hard when traveling, especially in Europe. I have a home in Tucson and am currently here now and am contemplating coming to your Oct 27th class @ Wild Oats. Will you have some time to talk after the class? My email is missy.smith@hotmail.com. I am truly inspired by you!!!
Take care, Melissa

Your smoothie is beautiful. Is that a glass straw?

Thanks for all the good ideas!

Hi :)
It sure is a glass straw! Isn't that cool? And those little buds you see on it...that's so it doesn't roll off my counter and break.

I store/eat/drink my food in glass (as much as possible), so I'm either sipping my smoothie from a facny wine glass or chugging it down from a mason jar

Cheers!

PS Melissa, I'll email you. My Raw Holiday class is almost full. If you'd like to grab a seat, you should register straight away :)

And, hey, have you tried this travel blender: Tribest Personal Blender -PB-100. There is a link for it on my website: www.KristensRaw.com/store. It's great for travel :)

Hi Kristen, I too, like testing myself with hot peppers. But I make sure to rid of the seeds and rinse it off with cold water. I know I cannot eat a hot pepper while driving, although, I have put on my makeup and balanced my checkbook while driving. I can picture myself at a red light, taking a bite of a hot pepper and screaming out loud. I drive a convertible, maybe I will try that with the top down. I too use glass alot. A guy I use to date put hot peppers in a styrofom (don't think I spelled that right) cup and in the morning saw that it ate a hole through the cup. Of course, I don't date him anymore. Ha! See ya...Citylights

Hi again Kristen,
Just wanted to let you know I ordered a set of your books for myself and another set for my neighbor. She watches my dog when I go out of town and refuses to charge me. I thought it is a great gift for the holidays but wanted to give it to her now so she can get excited. If I had to pay to put LEO in the kennel it would be sooooooo expensive. Your set of books allows me to get off cheap.
LEO and I thank you.
